Effective Visual Communication - Complexity Simplified

1:35 PM - 2:00 PM

As we uncover more about life; and the universe, it becomes increasingly important to share this knowledge with larger and more diverse groups.
For professional communicators like yourselves, the task involves crafting engaging messages and stories that captivate, inform, and possibly inspire or motivate. Often, the first step is to make the underlying complexities easier to understand.
A valuable tool at our disposal is using well-crafted visuals alongside text. When done correctly, these visuals tap into how our eyes and brain process information, making it easier for our audiences to understand our messages.
However, using visuals comes with its challenges. Because we don’t learn much about it in school, we might fall for attractive yet ineffective examples we see around us. This often results in creating flashy graphics that catch attention but confuse rather than clarify.
In this talk, my aim is to help you steer clear of these challenges. We'll explore what a Nobel Laureate in Economics can teach us about design and uncover how simple everyday things, like bathroom doors, can guide us in creating easily understandable visuals. And we'll make it engaging—getting active, sharing laughs, and sparking lively discussions.
