The artist behind artificial intelligence for oral health care

9:30 AM - 9:55 AM

Imaging is the prime tool for diagnosis and treatment planning in oral healthcare. One of the recent trends for diagnostic and pre-surgical imaging in oral healthcare has been the introduction of a simplified digital workflow. The solid basis of such workflow can often be accomplished by 2D and 3D radiological images. While there have been attempts to automate individual anatomical segmentations and pathological detection tasks, there is a scientific gap when it comes to automated radiological diagnosis and presurgical planning for clinical use. This can be realized by a dedicated Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm, which should allow maintaining the accuracy, raising the reliability and consistency of diagnosis and presurgical planning, meanwhile significantly dropping the time and complexity. At any moment, the dentist would remain the artist supervising the perfect AI-based dental assistant.
